Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza
I guess the "pageant authorities" got to her. The reigning Miss Universe, Venezuelan beauty Dayana Mendoza, has taken down the now-famous post on her blog in which she told about having a fun time at Gitmo. A sample:
I buy it. Here's the thing, though. What was the problem with Dayana's saying that she had fun entertaining the troops? Did anyone, anywhere think she was entertaining the detainees? Why does even a little T&A show for the boys in uniform become a big "controversy?"
I'll bet prisoners the world over, like troops, if given the choice, would whoop it up for Dayana. Who knows, she might even be able to win over some Gitmo hard cases?

"We hung out with the guys from the East Coast and they showed us the boat inside and out, how they work and what they do, we took a ride around the land and it was a loooot of fun!" Mendoza wrote. In its place is a "statement" from some faceless suit explaining that "Dayana Mendoza’s comments on her blog were in reference to the hospitality she received while meeting the members of the U.S. military and their families who are stationed in Guantánamo." Seems that one of duties of wearing the crown is to make the rounds of U.S. military installations entertaining the troops, and Gitmo is a U.S. Navy base.
